This article gives a brief summary of David Rittenhouse and what he did during the years he lived. Rittenhouse found the Philosophical Society. In January 1771, he was elected secretary. His livelihood depended on the practice of his trade and, for some years to come, only occasional supplements to income his income arose from other sources.
